DAMASCUS BAKERY SAVINGS

 

BACKGROUND

 

Damascus Bakery just opened a state-of-the-art 120,000 square foot baking facility on a 5-acre site, less than one mile from Newark Airport to expand their 82-year old DUMBO baking enterprise.  Geatain Engineering was retained to provide additional energy saving measures. Major challenges for Damascus Bakery included:

  • New facility was designed with many of the latest energy advances, including LED lighting, insulation, controls and building management system.

  • Interested in energy measures with less than two-year return.

  • Owner wanted to preserve inventory against blackouts.

  • Ongoing facility construction throughout project.

  • Large sections of the facility were set aside for future expansion and not in use.
