Damascus Bakery just opened a state-of-the-art 120,000 square foot baking facility on a 5-acre site, less than one mile from Newark Airport to expand their 82-year old DUMBO baking enterprise. Geatain Engineering was retained to provide additional energy saving measures. Major challenges for Damascus Bakery included:
New facility was designed with many of the latest energy advances, including LED lighting, insulation, controls and building management system.
Interested in energy measures with less than two-year return.
Owner wanted to preserve inventory against blackouts.
Ongoing facility construction throughout project.
Large sections of the facility were set aside for future expansion and not in use.
